People in Business were appointed by the management of the company in August 2002 to recommend how senior management teamwork could be improved.
Our approach involved meeting the executive team one to one and then meeting their direct reports. We also met with the four Non Executive directors. These consultations covered the company's aims, current strategy, roles and responsibilities, current priorities and issues, communications, decision making and relationships.
Our report was presented to Chairman and Chief Executive and then to the Non Executives. Once a consensus for action had emerged we presented findings and detailed recommendations to the Executive Management Group.
Eighteen months of change management work sprung from this intervention. This included: - the appointment of a new chairman - moving the Head Office out of the City - the sale of the components division - the launch of a joint venture in China
The Manganese share price was 54p at the time of the PiB appointment in August 2002. Two years later, following the implementation of many of our recommendations, the share price had risen to 1.50. |
